The Sarver Heart Center in the College of Medicine-Tucson offers free CPR training for faculty and staff. Dates and locations of trainings are posted on their website, with instructions on how to register. Because training is free, participants will not receive a certificate. If you prefer a certificate, CPR training is available for a small fee at Campus Recreation or through vendors who charge a fee.
Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder Certification: Offered from Campus Recreation.
Faculty and staff located away from the Tucson campus can contact their local fire department or YMCA to learn about CPR training opportunities in their area. The American Red Cross can also help you find local trainings.
Unit leaders are encouraged to facilitate training by publicizing and attending voluntary office-wide CPR training. Fees are an allowable expense on most University funds.
Please organize pediatric CPR training and encourage all employees and volunteers who work with children to attend, such as summer camps and K-12 program. Many CPR courses provide adult and pediatric training together.
Field research and instruction and working across the vast Experiment Station present unique challenges to safety. Distance from first responders and work in areas without cell phone reception amplify the importance of CPR and first-aid training.
