Purpose of the ALVSCE APR Resource Guide
This is an ALVSCE-specific resource guide intended to supplement the UA institutional resources available for the Annual Program Review (APR) process with a focus on data. In addition to the materials and guidance available from the Provost’s Office, Academic Affairs and University Analytics and Institutional Research (UAIR), ALVSCE’s Data Services Team (DST) has developed data resources that can augment and enhance a unit’s compilation of metrics and measures related to ALVSCE’s mission driven programmatic infrastructure and management.

Purpose and Overview of APR
Academic Program Review (APR) is an in-depth examination of an academic program’s strengths and opportunities and provides a foundational platform for evaluating the quality of educational programs, scholarly and research activities and service outcomes. APR is conducted on a seven-year cycle but provides insight for assessment of future expectations and informs the strategic direction of the program on an ongoing basis. A Self-Study Report document is created by the unit undergoing APR. Criteria and guidelines for creating the Self-Study Report are provided in the APR Procedure Manual for the appropriate academic year. A committee of experts from both inside and outside UA are assembled to conduct the review, which consists of on-site assessment activities and interviews of key constituency groups in addition to the written documentation included in the Self-Study Report.
APR Process Owner
Oversight of APR falls under the purview of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost as determined by the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) Policy 2-225 (rev 9/2018.)

Policy
- Academic Program Review Policy defined by the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR.) Describes the purpose of APR and addresses general parameters, participants, timing, funding source and follow up procedures. Changes may be made but must be adopted and noted in Revision Policy Dates by ABOR.
