Ben Markwart

Data Scientist IV

Ben joined CALES in the summer of 2022. He received his BA in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of Arizona and his master’s degree in Political Economy from the University of Pittsburgh, where he specialized in advanced quantitative methods and game theory. Prior to joining the CALES Data Solutions Team, he was the sole analyst in the College of Education, leading reporting, student level empirical analysis, and business forecasting. Ben contributes specialized expertise in data science, multivariate statistics, advanced econometrics, predictive analytics, and decision analysis. His work spans institutional analytics, predictive modeling, ETL and reporting pipeline development, application delivery in R and Python, and analytical product design for leadership audiences. He also works in AI development and implementation, including NLP related workflows, staff oriented AI resource development, and the creation of practical AI tools that support reporting, operations, and institutional decision making across the college.
